North American Congress on Latin America (NACLA)

This NACLA Report is an academic journal that reflects on the current state of the media landscape in Latin America and particularly how journalism takes shape within and responds to these evolving conditions. The issue centers the work of reporters and researchers in the region who face firsthand the urgent challenges and uncertainties defining media today.

I was commissioned to illustrate the cover for the Winter and Spring issues of NACLA. During the process, I conducted research on the history of journalism in Latin America and the aesthetics of similar social movements. With this information, I created multiple thumbnail sketches and presented them to the committee before I finalized a final variation.
