Summary
Impressions of Resistance is a collaborative graphics and printmaking project between the Youth Alliance for Housing (YAH) and Mobile Print Power (MPP), connecting participatory design, screenprinting, and tenant organizing. The project explores graphics for social movements as a tool for collective expression, political education, and organizing.
My Role
I first became involved with YAH as a member, supporting its organizing work through graphic design for social media and promotional materials. My role has since grown into an informal Artist in Residence, creating graphics and printed materials for tenant union organizing and facilitating collaborative artmaking.
Impressions of Resistance
For Impressions of Resistance, I developed and led a three-part workshop that brought participants through collective design-making, screenprinting, and public outreach. Together, we developed graphics responding to housing justice and translated them into physical prints for organizing and public distribution. The project reflects my interest in design as a participatory practice: not simply making graphics for social movements, but creating the knowledge, tools, and visual language for communities to make graphics themselves.
