Summary
This project is an artistic investigation into commuting, rooted in my frustration with NJ Transit. Positioned somewhere between a love letter and a formal complaint, it approaches transit infrastructure as a deliberately constructed in-between; a space that shapes identity through repetition.
Process
Drawing on the visual language of the 1981 Graphics Standards Manual, the work integrates system diagrams and modular grids with transcribed conversations from platforms and train cars, alongside my own photography. These materials converge in a design experiment that treats routine as structure and constraint, using the aesthetics of order and efficiency to hold resentment, nostalgia, obligation, and return.
